The holiday season is a time of joy, giving, and community spirit. At Child Inc, we work tirelessly to ensure that the children we serve across Travis County feel the warmth and excitement of the season despite financial challenges. Many of the children in our program, from just six weeks to five years old, often face winter with last year’s coat and shoes that no longer fit or go through the holiday season without a new toy.
That’s why this year, we’re reaching out to our Austin community for support. Traditional resources like Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids have been stretched thin in recent years, and while they remain invaluable partners, they struggle to meet the rising needs. For many of the children we serve, the only new toy, coat, or pair of shoes they’ll receive this season comes from the donations collected during our holiday drive. This is where we need your help.
How You or Your Company Can Help
We invite local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join us by hosting a holiday toy, coat, and shoe drive at your office or within your network. Collecting essential items for children from underserved communities not only makes a direct impact, but also offers a meaningful way to bring your team together. Your employees can collaborate, wrap, and deliver these donations to one of our Child Inc centers in December, helping to create a holiday season full of joy for our children.
Why Your Donations Matter
Child Inc has been the continuous Head Start provider for Travis County since 1972, offering early childhood education and comprehensive support for children in high-poverty areas. Our 25 centers and sites throughout the county provide a safe, inclusive environment where children and families can thrive. We serve nutritious meals, offer health screenings, and provide social-emotional learning and disability support to hundreds of children each year. We also work with families to ensure they have the resources they need to build strong foundations for their children’s futures.
