The Head Start program was announced in 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson as a complete framework for providing the required health, educational, and nutritional needs of children from low-income families to pave better opportunities for them.  Child Inc.’s Head Start programs has delivered services to children and families in Travis County in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way for 50 years.

Our Head Start program  supports family well-being by helping parents achieve family goals, such as housing stability, continued education, and financial security.  #DYK Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to more than 1 million children each year? Throughout the month of October Child Inc will be celebrating Head Start achievements and services inviting volunteers and community partners into our classrooms to share knowledge and resources.  Volunteers will provide STEM related activities, we will offer cooking demonstrations, parent/child yoga classes, circle time reading with BookSpring just to name a few.  You can also be on the lookout for our Child Inc branded Capital Metro buses throughout the City of Austin.

#headstart has such an impactful legacy and bright future continuing to improve educational outcomes for our most vulnerable children. As we closeout October as #headstartawaressmonth we also want to celebrate Joy, recognizing the importance of consistency, nurturing, attention and parental engagement opportunities brings to the life of a child. Our goal for school readiness reaches beyond letters and numbers, we strive to provide all of our children with the foundation and confidence to ask questions and keep learning.
