Each year, Week of the Young Child offers a special opportunity to recognize the importance of early childhood education and to celebrate the young learners, families, and educators who make our community so vibrant. From April 13–17, our centers will be filled with creativity, exploration, and joyful learning as we join this national celebration led by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in partnership with Head Start programs across the country.
The purpose of Week of the Young Child is to spotlight the critical role that high-quality early learning experiences play in shaping a child’s future. Child Inc, aligns deeply with the mission of preparing children for school and life through nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environments.
Throughout the week, our classrooms will come alive with themed activities designed to support all areas of development. Children will explore music and movement, express themselves through art, build early literacy skills through storytelling, and engage in hands-on STEM activities that spark curiosity and problem-solving. These experiences are not only fun—they are foundational, helping children develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
This special week also gives us the chance to connect learning to broader themes that impact our children and families. As we celebrate Earth Day, classrooms will incorporate activities that teach children about caring for the environment—whether through gardening, nature exploration, or simple practices like recycling and conservation. These early lessons help foster a sense of responsibility and connection to the world around them.
In addition, as we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, we are intentionally creating space for social-emotional learning. Our classrooms will focus on helping children identify and express their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop coping skills. Supporting mental health at an early age lays the groundwork for resilience and overall well-being, both now and in the future.
We will close out this meaningful week with our Heart of the Work Community Brunch on Friday, April 17th (for more info visit our events page), where we will gather with partners, supporters, and families to reflect on our shared impact. During this event, we will present our annual report, highlighting the progress, achievements, and stories that define our work over the past year. It is a time to celebrate not only what we have accomplished, but also the community that makes it all possible.
Our commitment to excellence is strengthened through our partnership with Head Start and our alignment with NAEYC standards. These frameworks ensure that our programs meet the highest benchmarks in early childhood education. We are proud that our centers are accredited by NAEYC, reflecting our dedication to providing high-quality, research-based learning environments where every child can thrive.
Week of the Young Child is more than a celebration—it is a reminder of the powerful impact of early education and the importance of investing in our youngest learners. We are honored to walk alongside our children and families each day, nurturing their growth and helping build a strong foundation for the future.
